Why use Zirconia Beads in paint, coating and pigment grinding?

In the paints, coatings, and pigment industry, precise grinding and dispersion ensure vibrant color, consistent texture, and long-lasting performance. Uniform particle size is essential for achieving superior opacity, gloss, and stability in the final product. Zirconium dioxide (zirconia) beads provide the high density and wear resistance needed for efficient pigment breakdown, delivering fast, consistent dispersion. Stone Peak’s high-quality zirconia beads offer exceptional sphericity, durability, and low contamination—helping manufacturers produce coatings and pigments with outstanding visual and performance qualities.

Our Supply Scope

Nano Zirconia Beads (Φ0.05-Φ2.0mm)

Nano yttria-stabilized zirconia beads are high-purity, ultrafine ceramic grinding media produced via a proprietary extrusion molding process. They exhibit uniform particle size, ultra-high density, and a smooth surface, resulting in exceptional wear and impact resistance. These properties ensure stable milling, consistent particle size distribution, and extended service life. Their biocompatibility minimizes contamination, preserving material purity—ideal for nanoscale grinding in applications such as energy storage materials, battery electrodes, and electronic components.

High Purity Zirconia Beads (Φ0.1-Φ5.0mm)

High-purity yttria-stabilized zirconia beads are precision-engineered ceramic grinding media characterized by uniform particle size, smooth surface, and excellent wear and impact resistance, ensuring extended operational life. Their biocompatibility minimizes contamination, making them ideal for high-purity applications in paints, textile and plastic dyes, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and battery materials.

Silicon Nitride Beads (Φ0.1-2.0mm)

Nitride microbeads are ultra-wear-resistant ceramic media produced via proprietary extrusion molding and vacuum sintering. With a density >= 3.2 g/cm³, they exhibit wear resistance over 10× that of nano-zirconia and nearly 20× that of high-purity zirconia beads. Their minimal wear rate (~1 ppm over 24 hours) ensures low media consumption and minimal contamination, making them ideal for ultra-fine dispersion of high-purity, high-end materials under stringent processing conditions.
